BIOGRAPHY

I was born in the Holme Valley, West Yorkshire, set in magnificent moorland countryside in the heart of the Pennines. The landscape inspired me to paint and appreciate art from an early age, one of my water colour paintings was exhibited in a National Exhibition when only 11 and I started to paint with oils when I was 12.

Besides my love of art, I have always been interested in architecture and on leaving school at 16, this was my first path which enhanced my technical skills in drawing and perspective. I decided to follow my love for art when I was 18, enrolling for Art Foundation Year at Huddersfield School of Art, followed by BA in Fine Art at Central School of Art, London.

My studio is in Wimbledon, South West London and in the summer months you can find me painting in the Swiss Alps above Zermatt. I gain inspiration for artworks from my fascination with architecture, mountaineering, hiking in breath taking mountain scenery and traveling to different places on our beautiful planet.  

I work mainly in oils and my unique style has been developed using perspective, light and shade to draw the viewer into the painting, giving a three dimensional feeling to the work.

On completion of my degree course, I worked as a Mural Artist in London.
